Simply 💕Complicated‼️
FIRST POST nerves scared the sh*t me out me!..just not too much as to deter me from posting this 'gentle' introduction.[13.10.23]
Friday 13th October 2023 : “Lullaby by The Cure” is my ENTRANCE SONG for walking in!
Dear Chasers!💗
I know… haha! Honestly, I know “Chasers?” It's quite cute and sh*t at the same time. I also know that, personally, I would be seething to be greeted as a Chaser on the first encounter. You just don't get the same feeling as ‘
hello friends’ or ‘
dear readers’ if it was me I'd automatically think “what a see you next tuesday.” I'd just say c*nt but apparently today, I'm going to dive right in with my floral top and pinstripe skirt
* as a
Loose Women, one of those ladies first introduced me to the phrase “Shut The Front Door”.
*quite clearly, I'm nothing of a fashion conscious person. I have no sense. I wear North Face and Simply Be - sometimes both together!
That said, so I don't forget what I'm talking about, I'll stfu and get to the point. I tried and tried to cut the Chasers! reference out of every single draft, it kept coming back in play - in the end, I couldn't resist (even made a sh*tty amateur image/heading to go with it)-
Chasey’s Chasers!💗I do really love it. I’m hoping for your forgiveness/blessing because, It's happening
and definitely here to stay. Below 👇 is a nice photo of the view I am looking at while I chainsmoke my head off in my back garden. I am trying to stop worrying about writing this email newsletter and get on with the pleasure of meeting you all.
WINTER NIGHTS ARE DRAWING IN while I’m over here still pulling summer dresses out of the miserable washing machine. The weather and I are like ships in the night. I hang clothes on the line, close my eyes and 💥 boom 💥 it's effin’ raining. If it only happens once its not a thing. The fact that it has now become something of a routine is totally unsettling.
If it wasn't for it happening to my neighbour who happens to be a Doctor! So, that makes me feel better *pun intended* about not quite having all my sh*t together at forty-one! I recently had this birthday milestone during the blink and a sniff which was my experience of September, litterally “in a nutshell”.
Hailing from:
I love living in Manchester City Centre, bang in the heart of the Northern Quarter, everyone always says “What!? Oh,the hipster area. That's so cool”. I've been here ever since 2011 along with Matthew - my partner (for want of a better word) I prefer to say ‘the fella’ or simply ‘Matt’- we’re too long in the tooth now to say ‘my boyfriend’ also, fourteen years into it deserves a good word as reward for longevity! My UNHUSBAND will do for now. We have no children through fate and choice or both. I think the universe got us together and lined up the stars to give us, not what we need or want, but what we could handle. Our lifestyle doesn't make much space for little people. We know this by the way our nephew is a joy to have a sleepover with at ours and also a breath of fresh air to wave goodbye once the weekend is over. I am so, so fortunate to have 24hrs in a day free time to focus on my own activities and concentrate my time completely to creative outlets. I am also the annoying person who gets in my own way. That's another story.
This is where I'm working. My home office is a square in the corner of our tiny living room. I don't own a laptop or computer at the moment so all this is being typed by one thumb because I'm too old to hold an phone and type with two fingers. 🤞
The picture above is where the magic happens ;) I think you can tell a lot about a person by looking at their desk or office space. I haven't analysised my own set up. I'd love it if you'd like to share a photo of your creative area in the comments for us to see.
Feel free to share something!
Gentle introduction:
Only because I sort of mentioned in the title that there will be a gentle introduction to me and my writing. I realise that I haven't even begun to tell you anything about myself. Nothing worth thinking about. I'm over-thinking it, that it might be too dull or boring to go into any detail. It feel a bit egoistic or insular to me but I did always hope for a fly on the wall perspective for my readers. I will actualise that essence in the future maybe. For now, I think I summed up most of what you should know in order to make any judgement about me or for consideration, in this note that I put up on substack today. See screenshot.
My Poetry:
Id like to take this perfect opportunity to give both yours and my brain a little rest and respite, with some calming, cozy and comforting words of poetry. I can't actually guarantee all those feelings for you - with my poetry - but I believe poetry in general seems to induce those kind of emotions. Fingers crossed 🤞
First up is this poem written from the prompt “KICKED OUT”
Next is a SUBSTACK EXCLUSIVE poem never been published or posted anywhere else. I wrote it for you - just for you.
Now Below: this is interconected with the next heading of PEOPLE it's the same guy’s press (publishing company) and is my most recently published poem.
The Blood Rag is a monthly broadsheet. This features other poets and is free to download from www.ihatemattwall.com or the direct link below 👇 it's an instant download (no sign-up required) I ENCOURAGE YOU TO PRINT AND REDISTRIBUTE if poets and poetry are your bag💗
